Parenting

Parenting is an amazing adventure – and sometimes tough.

The good news is that you don’t have to do it alone. I provide support for every stage – from birth through college.

Whether you’re welcoming your first baby or navigating the emotional rollercoaster of teenage years, parenting is filled with questions, stress, and moments of uncertainty.

The good news? You’re not expected to have it all figured out. And you don’t have to figure it out alone.

It’s okay to ask for help.

Parenting brings joy, love, and purpose. It can also cause overwhelming guilt and confusion. If you’re stuck, burned out, or unsure how to support your child or teen through a difficult season, I’m here to help.

I know you’re doing your best as a parent, and I want to make navigating your challenges easier.

At Sandra Lee Therapy, I provide judgment-free parenting support grounded in emotional connection, practical tools, and the science of what kids need to thrive, based on the key principles of the best research on emotional intelligence and connection.

We’ll work together to help you feel more confident, connected, and equipped to raise emotionally healthy children through every developmental stage.

Support is available for all stages of parenting.

Birth to age 5 lays the foundation.

The early years are full of wonder and total exhaustion for the parent. Whether you’re managing sleep struggles, toddler tantrums, separation anxiety, or big emotions in little bodies, these years set the tone for lifelong emotional development.

We’ll focus on: Strengthening your bond through emotional attunement, helping your child name, understand, and regulate emotions, navigating discipline with warmth and boundaries, and managing transitions like daycare, sibling arrival, or potty training.

You’ll gain tools to respond – not react – and build secure, connected relationships.

Build skills and confidence for school-age kids.

The elementary years can feel like a new balancing act: friends, school, sports, routines, and screen time compete for attention. Emotions get more complex, and so do behavior challenges. We can help you build those skills.

Together, we’ll address homework battles and daily routines, emotional meltdowns, sibling rivalry, attention struggles, communication breakdowns, boundary setting, and building emotional literacy and resilience at home.

Using sound principles, you’ll learn how to be an emotion coach, helping your child feel safe, seen, and supported while maintaining structure and consistency.

Teenagers can be tough.

Staying connected with your teens amid chaos is challenging. Their world is full of hormones, identity shifts, peer pressure, mood swings, and the push-pull of wanting independence but needing connection.

It can feel like: They’re always in their room and shut you down when you try to talk. Every conversation turns into an argument or ends in silence. You’re constantly worried, stressed, or confused by their choices.

Here’s what’s happening: your teen is in the middle of becoming their own person. It’s bumpy. It’s loud. It’s normal. Parent coaching during this stage focuses on: Understanding adolescent brain development and behavior, managing your triggers while staying emotionally available, setting boundaries that work, rebuilding trust, and reducing conflict.

By integrating key research and practical tools, you’ll learn how to stay calm, curious, and connected—even when your teen slams the door.
